The Joshua Treehouse is a foodie hotspot with something to suit everyone's taste and pocket
The History
The Joshua Tree was originally the Railway Inn when built in the 19th century and the name comes from the start of the building of the London to Brighton railway line which has Earlswood train station as a key part of that development. Not many people know that Earlswood is older than Redhill and formed part of the area called Reigate Foreign called Linkfield.
When it was The Railway Inn it has a stained glass window of a locomotive and was known locally as the NOB after the number on the window. Part of the building was used as a chapel during the construction of the railway in the 1830’s with the Brighton line finally finished in 1868. It later became known as the Albatross and was for a while a Shepherd Neame pub. Evidence of the latter’s ownership can be seen by the lanterns outside the pub. In 2001 it was then taken over and renames The Joshua Tree.
